A decision issued last month by the Court of Chancery ordered a bank to advance attorney fees to a former executive who is suing for the enforcement of an employment agreement, but also threw out a portion of the dispute over salary versus severance.

Other counts in Martinez v. Regions Financial Corp., dealing with the proper bonus due the former executive, were left for another day. The Aug. 6 opinion from Vice Chancellor Donald F. Parsons Jr. stated that there are issues of material fact that precluded summary judgment.
