After six years on the Court of Chancery, Vice Chancellor Joseph R. Slights III issued his final opinion Tuesday and prepared to pack up his office Wednesday.

Slights said during the pandemic and with the deaths of both his own father and his wife’s last year, he had a chance for self-reflection and realized he wanted to spend more time with family. He plans to take the summer off and doesn’t currently have professional plans set in stone after that, though he said he’ll likely be joining a law firm.
