A longtime member of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc.’s board of directors, who also serves as general counsel at a New Jersey-based real estate company, was ousted from her board seat by shareholders of the home goods retailer on Thursday.

The vote to drop Victoria Morrison was an unusual move, and an apparent rebuke of the leaders who help set up Bed Bath’s executive compensation plan.
