When Heather Calhoun joined the legal department of Aaron’s Inc. from Holland & Knight in 2014, she says she was excited to join the lease-to-own retail company’s women’s leadership program—only to learn that no such thing existed.

So last year she and fellow Aaron’s in-house attorney Brennan Stewart set out to launch the Aaron’s Women’s Leadership Network—an initiative that capped its inaugural year Wednesday night with a celebration attended by more than 100 people at Park Tavern in Midtown. Prominent attendees included guest speaker Sara Doyle, chief judge of the Georgia Court of Appeals, and former Falcons running back Warrick Dunn, whose charity was the recipient of a $10,000 AWLN fundraising effort.
