A Mississippi immigration lawyer with Georgia ties has been indicted on federal charges accusing him of filing fraudulent documents to help his clients secure U.S. visas or permanent residency, either through sham marriages to U.S. citizens or via a program intended to help immigrant crime victims.

Simpson L. Goodman, a 29-year-old member of the Mississippi bar, was charged with 32 felonies in two separate indictments unsealed Thursday by the U.S. Attorney in Jackson. Goodman—who listed offices in Jackson, and Augusta, Georgia, on LinkedIn—is accused of engaging in an alleged marriage fraud scheme as well as a separate scheme to secure visas for immigrants by submitting falsified police reports to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
