When it comes to rainmaking, diversity can be an effective tool for getting a foot in the door, said Xerox’s general counsel, Don Liu, at a panel sponsored by the Georgia Asian Pacific Bar Association before its annual gala Thursday.

“It’s often amazing how little homework law firms do on us before they walk in the door,” said Liu at the forum, held at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, noting that Xerox’s chief executive officer is the first female African-American to lead a Fortune 500 company, a fact that prospective outside counsel quickly would learn “if [they had] stud[ied] Xerox at all.”
