No longer the exclusive purview of the legal department, a company’s intellectual property plays a key role in accomplishing its business goals, a top lawyer at the Coca-Cola Co. said during a recent discussion of IP strategy.

Susanne Hollinger, head of patents at Coke, noted that the word “strategy” in the IP context is “so overused and probably not all that useful.”
