The senator leading a legislative task force has pre-filed a bill to rewrite parts of the state’s garnishment law struck down by a federal judge last year.

Sen. Jesse Stone, R-Waynesboro, last week submitted Senate Bill 255, which revamps and clarifies garnishment procedures and ensures that debtors can easily access information as to what funds are subject to garnishment and can expedite any challenge to seized funds. The bill also creates standardized forms for various types of garnishments procedures.
