Gov. Nathan Deal’s Judicial Nominating Commission reported Wednesday that it had received more than 200 names for three new seats on the Georgia Court of Appeals.

It’s unlikely that all 214 nominees will seek consideration for the position. Candidates must complete an extensive application by Sept. 15, and often some nominees don’t pursue the opportunity. The JNC accepted nominations, with a Tuesday deadline, from anyone, and candidates could nominate themselves.
