A Fulton County judge has ordered TitleMax to stop looking for new business by searching state motor vehicle records for the names of its competitors’ customers and entering competitors’ stores or parking lots to solicit customers or offering money to competitors’ employees in return for referrals.

The temporary injunction by Superior Court Judge John Goger comes in one of three unfair business practices suits filed by a group of TitleMax competitors in Texas, South Carolina and Georgia. All are under the corporate umbrella of Alpharetta-based Select Management Resources, although the lead plaintiff named in the Fulton suit is Drummond Financial Services.
