DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James found himself a key witness Thursday in his prosecution of suspended County CEO Burrell Ellis.

James was called to testify in a hearing before Superior Court Judge Courtney Johnson by Ellis’ defense team, which has asked the judge to disqualify James and his staff and to toss the district attorney’s evidence against Ellis. Ellis faces a new 14-count indictment accusing him of shaking down county contractors for campaign contributions.
