The plaintiffs lawyers who brokered a $98 million settlement to end a class action lawsuit against the Cobb Electric Membership Corp. could collect around $30 million, said a lawyer with experience in class actions who is not involved in this case.

“Typically with a large settlement like that, the fee would be between 25 percent and 33 percent,” said Benjamin Perkins of Oliver Maner in Savannah. He added that the plaintiffs lawyers could also expect to be reimbursed separately for costs, such as deposition transcripts and expert fees.
