A hairstylist who slipped and fell in the flower department of a grocery store has won a $2.79 million verdict against the Kroger Co. in Gwinnett State Court.

The fall happened on June 7, 2008. The plaintiff slipped in a puddle near the flowers, where condensation from a cooler may have leaked onto the floor, according to the plaintiff’s outline in the consolidated pre-trial order. The document also stated that one employee said to another, “You were supposed to clean that up 30 minutes ago.” The complaint was filed June 2, 2010.The plaintiff, who was 27 at the time of the fall, hurt her knees and wrist, according to her attorney, Michael Neff. “The knees healed. The wrist did not,” Neff said. He presented medical testimony showing his client developed a condition called complex regional pain syndrome.
