After hearing seven weeks of testimony, a jury ruled for the defense in a tortuous, 6-year-old case in which a poultry packing company sought $263 million in damages resulting from a chicken plant fire.

But the May 30 verdict in Fulton County Superior Court didn’t end the case brought by Wayne Farms against Crane Co., a fiberglass panel manufacturer whose product was blamed for spreading the fire. Crane, which five years ago offered to settle the matter for $500,000, is seeking close to $4 million in legal fees and expenses.
