For plaintiffs’ lawyer Thomas W. Malone-as for a lot of attorneys-time is money. That’s part of the reason he bought his first airplane, a Cessna 172 four-seater, back in 1968.

Malone, who was practicing law in Albany at the time, had won flying lessons in a poker game and needed an efficient way to travel the Southeast on business. Back then, he had to fly out of Atlanta to get to any major city, and many small cities didn’t have commercial air service.
