McGuireWoods, a 750-lawyer firm with a 33-lawyer Atlanta outpost, is merging with Helms Mulliss & Wicker, a 145-lawyer firm based entirely in North Carolina.
The combination, which will retain the McGuireWoods name, will have a 160-lawyer office in Charlotte, N.C., plus offices in 16 other cities.
