JUDGES, STAFF AND SOME local attorneys are cheering a rule change from the Georgia Supreme Court that makes it easier to transfer cases from Fulton County Superior Court to a special court designed to deal with complex business cases faster than they could be heard in courts clogged with criminal matters.
The high court on June 6 said cases could be transferred to the two-year-old Business Case Division of Fulton County Superior Court if one side of a case, and the presiding judge, support the change. The rule change means that the change can occur over the objection of a party who opposes the move, although that side has a 20-day “objection period” during which the transfer may be challenged and objections entered into the record.
