Lawyers for the widow of a man who committed suicide shortly after being released from a mental rehabilitation center could not convince a Fulton County jury that the man’s psychiatrist failed to exercise proper care to ensure that his patient would receive adequate supervision when released into a halfway house.

According to the pretrial order in the case, Clay Hardy, 46, checked into Peachford Hospital on Oct. 13, 2003, having relapsed into drug use and feeling suicidal and depressed. His wife had asked him to move out of their house.
