Gov. Sonny Perdue’s office on Thursday released the list of five names the governor’s Judicial Nominating Commission has recommended for two vacancies on the state Court of Appeals created by the retirement of Judge G. Alan Blackburn and the death of Judge Debra H. Bernes.

The announcement from the governor’s office said Perdue also will consider four finalists for last year’s state Supreme Court vacancy that went to David E. Nahmias. Thursday’s news release said the other 2009 finalists-Alcovy Circuit Superior Court Judge Samuel D. Ozburn, Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge William M. Ray II, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Craig L. Schwall and Sutherland partner Rocco E. Testani-all have declined to be considered for the current vacancies.
