A group of online hotel booking sites-including Priceline, Travelocity and Orbitz-scored another court victory in a dispute over collecting local taxes when a federal appeals court in Philadelphia ruled that a New Jersey township had no standing to pursue a class action.

In Township of Lyndhurst v. Priceline.com Inc., a unanimous three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that small and medium-sized municipalities in New Jersey have no standing to sue the sites for unpaid occupancy taxes because all enforcement powers are delegated under state law to the attorney general and the director of taxation.
