I write today to commend Naveen Ramachandrappa on his moving and courageous op-ed piece regarding suicide prevention and his own personal struggles with mental health and thoughts of suicide.

As Naveen notes, suicide is not an easy subject to talk about. But we have found that talking about it is precisely what is effective in preventing it. Ten years ago now, we started the State Bar of Georgia’s Suicide Prevention Program, chaired by Randy Evans, without much knowledge of what to do or how to do it, but simply with the strong belief that something needed to be done to help struggling lawyers.
