Jury trial proceedings began Oct. 4 in a $200 million medical-malpractice lawsuit involving a Georgia man suffering from locked-in syndrome—a type of paralysis leaving him unable to move any part of his body except his eyes.

Jonathan Buckelew brought malpractice and negligence claims against North Fulton Regional Hospital in Roswell for complications that allegedly arose after he was taken to the hospital following a collapse during an October 2015 treatment by a chiropractor. While personnel at the Fulton hospital concluded he suffered a brain stem stroke, he claims that they failed to properly diagnose and treat the condition until the next day.
