Tucked away in west Georgia’s Coweta County between Newnan and LaGrange is the city of Grantville. With a population of just over 3,300 people, per census data, it’s a small town. But add the federal lawsuit just filed against the city, its city manger, police chief and several council members, and Grantville has become a small town with a big problem.

“They have engaged in a widespread campaign to retaliate against and persecute citizens who criticize them or attempt to investigate questionable practices and outright abuses,” alleged the complaint filed by Tucker-based Poole Huffman trial attorney Lucas Andrews on behalf of former Grantville officer Lawrence Ethridge and Grantville citizens Jon McIntyre and Robert Royce.
