Georgia Supreme Court Presiding Justice Michael Boggs urged a group of newly sworn-in lawyers Tuesday to give their time to help those living in the state’s “legal deserts.”

He suggested they do that by donating pro bono hours with the 50-year-old nonprofit Georgia Legal Services through its network of lawyers providing free civil services outside the five main metro Atlanta counties. The group is funded by the federal government through the Legal Services Corp. and by private donations and pro bono hours given by State Bar of Georgia members.
