Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr applauded the final passage of House Bill 1134, which will provide his office with concurrent jurisdiction to prosecute criminal gang activity on a statewide basis.

According to the Georgia General Assembly’s website, the bill, which was approved by the House 101-56 on Feb. 14, was passed by the Senate 50-5 on Monday. It awaits Gov. Brian Kemp’s signature to become law. It’s being supported by Kemp’s budget proposal to create the state’s first Gang Prosecution Unit in the AG’s office, according to a news release.
