A doctor who founded and led an Atlanta-based surgical office group and a Minnesota-based medical device company have reached an agreement to pay a combined $4.2 million to the federal government regarding claims they violated the False Claims Act through illegal kickback arrangements.

According to a news release, Dr. Jeffrey M. Gallups, the founder, owner, medical director and ex-CEO of Milton Hall Surgical Associates (MHSA) aka The Ear, Nose & Throat Institute, and Entellus Medical have agreed to pay about $3 million and $1.2 million, respectively, to resolve allegations they violated the act.
