Let’s face it; breakups are not fun. But separations are not uncommon in the legal profession.

Indeed, the American Bar Association has long recognized that many lawyers change law firms during the course of their careers (ABA Op. 09-455). And these separations can be accomplished amicably. The goal is to ethically navigate these partings with professional grace and to avoid disputes where possible.
