Counsel at Drew Eckl & Farnham on Thursday removed a civil rights lawsuit against Georgia State Trooper Brandon Byrd, Atlanta Police Officer Aubree Horton, Hertz Vehicles, the National Insurance Crime Bureau and other defendants to Georgia Northern District Court. The suit centers on the fatal shooting of Andrew Junior Smyrna, a 32-year-old African American male who was pursued on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle. The suit was filed by Reynolds Law Group and Stewart Miller Simmons Trial Attorneys on behalf of Smyrna’s mother and two children. The case is 1:21-cv-04481, Smyrna et al v. Byrd et al.
