A Gilmer County, Georgia, judge recused after his impartiality was questioned in a bitter dispute between two former business and romantic partners, after one accused his Chinese American ex-lover of being a “Chinese Communist apparatchik” and active member of the Chinese Communist Party in written filings and in open court.

Lawyers for the plaintiff, a naturalized American citizen, said Judge John Worcester allowed the “appalling anti-Asian rhetoric” to pass without comment. The recusal motion also said the judge sat on two motions for months, then ruled for the defendant, a Caucasian man, three days after receiving a letter from the plaintiff’s counsel complaining about the delay.
