Charlotte Hornets chief legal officer Joe Pierce is stepping away from the NBA to serve as general counsel for billionaire businessman Arthur Blank’s AMB Sports + Entertainment, owner of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. 

The Falcons announced Thursday that Pierce is taking over for Mike Egan, who is slated to retire Dec. 31 after serving as the top lawyer for AMBSE for six years. He plans to stay on as an adviser.
