A group of DeKalb County charter schools has sued the county school district and leadership over what they claim is its refusal to provide funding at contractually guaranteed per-pupil levels for the 2021 school year, or allow them to share in the proceeds from the county’s E-SPLOST, a special-purpose local option sales tax to fund education-related capital improvements.

The most recent, E-SPLOST V, is projected to provide $561 million for the system over the life of the program from 2017 to 2022, according to the most recent status report.
