The former Atlanta police officer fired over the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks at a downtown Wendy’s in June on Tuesday sued Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Acting Chief of Police Rodney Bryant, arguing his termination violated his constitutional due process protections and the city code.

Former Officer Garret Rolfe was fired shortly after the June 12 shooting of Brooks, who ran away as Rolfe and another officer attempted to arrest him after finding him asleep in a car in the restaurant’s drive-through lane.
