Attorneys have raised questions about attorney-client confidentiality, basic constitutional rights, witness influencing and adequate access to workable technology if the state proceeds with a proposal to allow civil non-jury trials to be conducted by video to stem a growing backlog related COVID-19.

The proposal by the Council of Superior Court Judges garnered more than 200 comments, according to the spokeswoman for the Supreme Court of Georgia, which must approve the rule before any changes are made.
