The Georgia Department of Corrections said Wednesday that an employee at one of the 34 state prisons has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
It’s the first confirmed case of the virus known as COVID-19 to be reported within the department.
“Someone was fortunate to have been tested,” Atlanta criminal defense attorney Drew Findling said Wednesday after hearing the news of the first positive case confirmed in the state prison system. “We don’t know who’s untested.”
