The University of Georgia School of Law marked Veterans Day 2019 with a video in which the dean, the director, a student and a client tell stories about the work of the Veterans Legal Clinic.

The clinic is funded by a lead gift from trial attorney and 1977 law school alumnus James E. “Jim” Butler Jr. of Butler Wooten & Peak in Columbus, Atlanta and Savannah. Butler also supports the school’s “Butler Commitment” that guarantees aid for veterans entering the law school in 2019 and 2020. Butler made the gift in memory of his father, Lt. Cmdr. James E. Butler Sr., who was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy. Butler Sr. also was the grandfather of James “Jeb” Butler III, a 2008 graduate of the law school. The clinic opened in 2018.
