The Cobb Judicial Circuit Superior Court judges have named prosecutor Joyette Holmes as the next chief magistrate of Cobb County.
Holmes will replace Chief Magistrate Judge Frank Cox, who announced his resignation in January and began taking sick leave until the effective date of Feb. 28. Holmes will be the first African-American and the first woman to serve in the position.
