Attorney Gary Greenwald has stepped in as defense counsel for Anna Gristina, who is accused of running an Upper East Side brothel, while two other attorneys have withdrawn from the defense, including one who is still willing to put up his loft to secure her bail.

Mr. Greenwald appeared on March 15 before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan (See Profile) to say he had been retained by Ms. Gristina’s family to represent her. Meanwhile, Peter J. Gleason and Richard Siracusa, who was a court-appointed attorney, have stepped aside.
