Dan Casey, a member of K&L Gates’s executive board and longtime Miami administrative partner, has stepped down amid national turmoil among firm management, a string of partner departures and reports of widespread discontent with managing partner Peter Kalis.

Casey, who has worked at the Pittsburgh-based international law firm for 30 years and served as an administrative partner for 16, said he told Kalis he did not want to serve another four-year term in charge of the Miami office. Partner Steven Weinstein, a 24-year veteran, took over management of the Miami office March 1.
