A legal malpractice and conspiracy lawsuit was settled by Miami aviation attorney Steven Marks and an insurance company over a payout following a helicopter crash involving Aventura billionaire developer Jeffrey Soffer.

However, a companion suit filed by the widow of tax attorney Lance Valdez, who was killed in the 2012 accident in the Bahamas, is still pending against Marks. Both cases were assigned to U.S. District Judge Kenneth Ryskamp in West Palm Beach.
