The Florida Bar’s trial against prominent Miami attorney Jeremy Alters began Tuesday with a promise of explosive allegations of text tampering, lurid affairs between lawyers in his firm and high-powered witnesses including trial attorneys Bruce Rogow and Christian Searcy.

The three-week trial, which will determine whether Alters committed trust fund violations of more than $1 million, is before Miami Circuit Judge Marcia Caballero, who is acting as the Bar’s referee in the case. Alters is facing potential disbarment.
