Broward Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer still lives by the rules she learned from the high school volleyball coach who led her and her team to two state of Florida championships.

“The lessons I learned from her as far as dedication, as far as not giving up even when everything looks like you’re going down in flames — perseverance and dedication and hard work and shaking it off if something bad happens and working with the people around you,” Scherer said. “I just reached out to her recently and told her the lessons I learned from her are ones that I have taken with me.”
