Boxing promoter Don King caught a break Thursday from the Florida Supreme Court in a longstanding dispute over a $1 million escrow deposit in a commercial real estate deal gone bad in Palm Beach County.

The Florida Supreme Court ruled ruled the Fourth District Court of Appeal applied an improper exception to the statute of frauds when it upheld an oral modification to a contract between DK Arena Inc., a King company, and EB Acquisitions I LLC, a development company that was trying to put together a $250 million mixed-use project in Mangonia Park in 2004.
