Polenberg Cooper is joining forces with two new attorneys to expand operations in South Florida.

Sunrise solo practitioner Brad Saunders and Barbara J. Riesberg of Miami are combining with the Sunrise-based firm to create Polenberg Cooper Saunders & Reisberg with six attorneys at offices in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

The expanded firm will focus on corporate commercial litigation and transactions.

Saunders is a former attorney with the chief counsel’s office of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington. Prior to forming his own firm, he was with Genauer & Associates in Miami.

Polenberg and Cooper are both former Weil Gotshal & Manges attorneys. They opened the firm in 2005 and tailored their legal advice based on business objectives instead of looking at legal issues first.

The new firm is expected to generate 30 percent more revenue, Polenberg said.

Polenberg and Reisberg developed a relationship through their work on The Florida Bar’s business law section.

“We’ve been looking to expand into Miami,” Polenberg said. “This opportunity came about, and it’s always better when you know someone and know it’s going to work out.”

The change will become effective Oct. 15.
