In 22 years as a public defender, Broward Circuit Judge Bernard Bober learned a lot — about the law, trying cases and people. Most important, he said, is that people deserve to be heard.

“I really felt, and one of my pet peeves is, you give people an opportunity to be heard,” he said. “Even if it’s a losing argument, people can accept losing a lot better if they have an opportunity to be heard. A lot of times that’s all people care about.”
