The 3rd District Court of Appeal has refused to disqualify a Miami-Dade Circuit judge from a hearing involving two divorced South Florida attorneys.

Carlton Fields partner Paul Calli asked to remove Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Maria Espinosa Dennis from hearing his ex-wife’s motion to hold him in contempt of their divorce decree. Calli said her attorney’s law firm co-hosted a campaign fundraiser within 48 hours of a scheduled Nov. 14 hearing in the case and he no longer felt he could get a fair shake.
