Judge Robin Rosenbaum has been selected to fill a vacancy on the federal district bench, a promotion that would make her the first magistrate in South Florida to become a U.S. District Court judge.

Rosenbaum, a Fort Lauderdale magistrate since 2007, was nominated Wednesday by President Barack Obama for the seat vacated when U.S. District Judge Alan S. Gold in Miami took senior status.
