A Fort Lauderdale attorney has been disbarred after being suspended for his role in the $1.25 billion Mutual Benefits viatical fraud.

Michael Joseph McNerney was a founding partner of the Fort Lauderdale law firm formerly known as Brinkley McNerney Morgan Soloman & Tatum. He pleaded guilty to federal fraud conspiracy and was sentenced in August to five years in prison.
