Gov. Rick Scott’s veto of $1 million for legal aid offices will deny thousands of low-income Floridians legal help and cost almost another $700,000 in federal benefits, according to The Florida Bar Foundation.

“When a poor person goes to a (legal aid) office, they’re proactively trying to keep their lives together, and without this help people are going to suffer,” said foundation executive director Jane Curran.
