The hotel ballroom that was the backdrop for the Beatles during a 1964 Ed Sullivan TV appearance has been shut down after the building’s owner, the Meruelo family, failed to fix several safety-related violations.

The city of Miami Beach on July 1 ordered the closure of the Napoleon Ballroom, two other ballrooms and a theater at the famed Deauville Beach Resort at 6701 Collins Ave.
