A former client of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell has sued the Dallas-based firm, alleging its negligence in handling a federal declaratory judgment action led to a default judgment against it.

CH MM Denton claims the law firm failed to keep it apprised of developments, including discovery requests and depositions, in a Texas case brought by First Regency Enterprises. As a result, the plaintiff alleges a federal judge entered the default judgment last year, striking its pleadings, dismissing its counterclaim and giving $2 million in escrowed money to other parties.
